
Some of the best times with the family can be enjoyed during the holiday season. At Faith Finder, we would like to show you some fun family friendly events you can enjoy in the Virginia area. The first event we would like to share is the 2016 Celebration of Lights!
2016 Celebration of Lights
November 24, 2016 - January 1, 2017
The Celebration of Lights is a drive-through attraction that opens every year on November 24th. It is located at the Newport News Park and features over 800,000 lights. Each year the feature new exhibits, this year's new lights are:
- Blooming Cherry Trees in the Peace Garden
- Magical Trees
- Penguin Snowball Fight
- Gingerbread People
- New Toys
The hour's for this fun event start at 5:30 pm - 10:00 pm, Sunday - Saturday. The admission is $12.00 per car or $60 per bus, but you can get $2.00 off with a perishable food item or pet food item donation. For more information about the Celebration of Lights, you can visit the website here.
Christmas At Mount Vernon Estate
If you are in the northern Virginia area, you can celebrate the holidays at the home of George Washington. Mount Vernon has a large variety of holiday events starting Thanksgiving weekend and running until January 6th. Some of the events they are:
- Gingerbread Mount Vernon
- 18th Century Dancing
- Christmas Camel
- Historical Chocolate Making Demonstration
- Mount Vernon Candlelight Tours
There is always fun festive events at Mount Vernon. Admission is $15 for adults and $7 for children. They are open 9 am to 4 pm every day including Christmas and New Years.
